@843parf45 I don’t know and have no knowledge about dreams, but I’ll ask my daughter who is interested in dreams, she keeps a diary of them and like sto read books about dream, and if she has an answer, I’ll add it here!
@843,
Dreams come about from sleep patterns, neurological function, imagination and probably many other factors that neuroscientists would likely explain better than I can. That complex interaction is not encoded in the genome as far as we know, which is the major way that children inherit traits from their parents. There is no evidence for heritable dreams that I am aware of and dreams themselves aren’t fully understood, but wouldn’t it be interesting if dreams were encoded in our genes in some way? We’ll have to wait and see!
Maybe, like Franco and his daughter, you could ask your parents what dreams they have had and see if yours are similar…start your own observational dream experiment!
I refer your to the answers in the related question. However, it is possible to transmit dreams through language and other forms of communication. Suppose your parents have a dream of opening a scuba-diving shop in Argentina when they retire. You could inherit that dream and the shop.
